Several years ago I read Eat to Live when I was in a state of desperation about my food/eating/body situation. It was a total game changer. http://amzn.to/2Adh8sZ
Every so often (like now) I do a reset of the 6 week plan. Summary:
Unlimited:
raw vegetables (the more the better)
cooked green vegetables (the more the better)
beans (do it! don't shy from beans)
fruit
Limited:
starchy vegetables
grains
nuts/seeds
avocado
dried fruit
flaxseed
Off Limits;
dairy, animal products, juice, oils and NO snacks.
I'm not going to lie. Getting started is a challenge. It takes a few days to get into the groove of it, but I can't say enough good about how calming it is for my appetite, breaks my sugar habit, helps me lose/stabilize weight.
One of my tricks is the "bean greenie." This is a green smoothie, into which I put tons of vegetables and my beans. Not sure if this hack is technically legal, but I find it so much easier to eat massive quanitity of vegetables (particularly greens) this way. Am I too lazy to chew it all? Maybe!
